Ask early
A figure in autumn is a decision.
Because the records arrived in March, so the figure could not exist before then.
A tax figure delivered a week before the deadline is just a demand. The same figure in the autumn is a decision point — about equipment, compensation, timing, or simply putting money aside. Nothing about preparing it early costs more; it only requires asking for the records sooner.
The same applies to the year's quieter deadlines. Payroll deposits, quarterly filings, sales tax and the Florida annual report all carry penalties that have nothing to do with how the business performed, and all of them are avoidable by somebody holding a calendar.
Where we stop matters too. Statements we prepare carry no assurance, and presenting them to a lender as reviewed would be the business owner's problem, not ours. Saying that plainly at the start is worth more than a comfortable answer later.
